When Old Windows Start Showing Their Age
Some projects whisper for a few years before finally demanding attention. For John Franks, the whisper turned into a “yeah, we should probably handle this” once he noticed how far his original 2001 contractor grade windows had slipped.
“There are a total of 36 windows. A good portion of them, around a dozen, were the picture frame style and they were original installs from 2001. They had been deteriorating,” John said.
He already knew who to call because of past positive experiences. “This isn’t the first time with Joyland. We’ve had very good experiences with roof maintenance and some gutter work,” he added.
Expecting a Referral and Finding a Solution Instead
John reached out thinking we would simply point him toward another company.

“Originally, my expectation was that I was looking for a referral because my familiarity and understanding with Joyland was that they’re roofing,” he said.
Instead, he ended up connected with Mike Stoltzfus from Joyland Windows and Doors. “Rather than a referral, it ended up being Mike,” John said. “I contacted you folks, and they hooked me up with Mike to organize things, set up some time to come out and assess things, the pricing, and the availability in terms of turnaround time.”
Planning a Strategy Instead of Random Install Chaos
Installing 36 windows is no small job. John was relieved to find out the plan wasn’t going to be a whirlwind of work.
“Once things were actually in motion, it was a conversation with Mike regarding the approach because it wasn’t just going to be haphazard random installs of windows. He did a great job.”
A Clean Installation that Beat His Expectations
If you have ever had windows replaced, you know the mess can get wild. John was prepared for drop cloths and drywall dust everywhere. Instead, he stepped into a surprisingly calm scene.
“I expected a bigger mess,” John said.
He also instantly noticed the difference in quality.
“The new windows were more different than I expected, relative to the old contractor grade. These were much sturdier, better built, and a bit deeper.”
Even with some drywall trimming needed, the cleanup was almost nonexistent.
“We weren’t sure if we were going to do the cutting of drywall. Mike and the team decided they really did need to do it and it really wasn’t a mess at all. It wasn’t messy outside or inside. That was a pleasant surprise.”
When we asked if he would recommend Joyland to others, he didn’t hesitate.
“Yeah, absolutely. The quality of the work, the company, just dealing with everyone we’ve had to deal with over the years, and especially with the windows install, it’s just been good experiences.”
