How Much Do New Windows Cost in Lancaster County, PA?

If you are thinking about replacing windows in your home, the first question is usually not about style or color. It is about price. Homeowners want real numbers, not mystery math or “we’ll tell you after the sales pitch.”

So let’s just have an honest conversation about window pricing in Lancaster County and other central Pennsylvania locations. One window. Ten windows. Bay windows. Casements. The whole deal.

Window Grades Matter More Than Most Homeowners Realize

Before talking about styles or sizes, you need to understand window grades. This is one of the biggest drivers of cost and performance.

At Joyland Windows and Doors, we sell a lot of ProVia windows. ProVia offers four main grades, each designed for different needs and budgets.

  • EcoLite is the entry level option. It offers basic insulation, Energy Star efficiency, and limited color and design choices. It is simple, clean, and practical.
  • Aspect steps things up with better insulation and more design flexibility. This is a very popular mid range option for homeowners who want better performance without going full luxury.
  • Endure is the top performance vinyl window in the ProVia lineup. It offers excellent insulation, durability, and a wide range of colors and options.
  • Aeris is the premium option. This is where things get fancy. Aeris windows feature real wood on the interior and vinyl on the exterior. You get the warm look of wood inside your home with low maintenance protection outside.

Double Hung Window Pricing in Central Pennsylvania

A Beige double hung window

Double hung windows are the most common window style in homes throughout our area.

For a basic EcoLite double hung window, most homeowners can expect a price range of about $1,000 to $1,500 per window installed. The exact price depends on installation details, access, and trim work.Higher grade options like Endure or Aeris typically range from $1,500 to $2,200 per window. Custom interior trim, specialty colors, and upgraded glass packages can push that higher.

One important thing to know is that window pricing works on volume. Replacing ten windows does not cost ten times as much as replacing one. The more windows you replace at the same time, the lower the cost per window.

Bay and Bow Window Replacement Costs

Bay and bow windows are a whole different animal.

Replacing an existing bay or bow window in the same opening is much more straightforward than cutting a new opening into a wall. A smaller, mid range bay window replacement with three glass units typically falls between $8,000 and $10,000 installed.

If you are adding a new bay or bow window where one did not exist before, costs increase significantly. This type of project requires structural framing and often an engineered header to support the weight above the opening. In those cases, pricing often lands in the low to mid teens.

Premium bay or bow windows, especially Aeris models with real wood interiors, can range from $12,000 to $14,000 or more depending on size and finishes.

Casement and Sliding Window Pricing

Casement windows open outward with a crank and sliders move horizontally. Both offer excellent ventilation and a clean modern look.

These window styles typically cost more than standard double hung windows.

Most homeowners can expect pricing around $1,500 to $2,000 for a mid range casement or sliding window. Larger units or premium grades can range from $2,500 to $3,000 installed.

Picture Window Replacement Costs

Picture windows are fixed windows that do not open. No moving parts means simpler construction and usually lower cost.

A standard size picture window around 2.5 feet by 3.5 feet typically ranges from $900 to $1,400 installed depending on grade. Larger picture windows around 4 feet by 5 feet usually fall between $1,500 and $1,800.

Oversized custom picture windows can go higher, especially when combined with upgraded glass packages.

What Factors Can Increase Window Replacement Costs?

Several things can significantly affect your final window price:

  • Glass packages matter. Triple pane glass costs more than double pane but offers better insulation and comfort.
  • Interior and exterior colors can add cost, especially when mixing finishes.
  • Built in blinds and shades increase price but offer convenience and a clean look.
  • Installation details matter a lot. Interior trim work, drywall repair, painting, or framing repairs will increase labor time and cost.
  • Hidden damage is another factor. Rotten sills or framing issues are sometimes not visible until the old window is removed.
