What Most Homeowners Spend on New Doors

Door TypeTypical Installed Price Range

What Drives the Cost of Your Door Project

The cost of a new door depends on a few key variables. The biggest drivers are material type (steel, fiberglass, wood), door size or configuration (single vs. double), and the complexity of installation. If your frame needs repair, or you choose options like decorative glass, sidelights, or premium hardware, the price naturally increases.

Other factors include local labor rates, energy-efficient upgrades, and even removing the old door. That’s why every estimate we provide is tailored — because no two homes are quite the same.

What Our Customers Have Paid

Real prices from real jobs—no guesswork. Here’s a look at what Joyland customers have actually spent on window replacements and repairs.

Front Door and Sidelights Replacement

This project replaced the home’s entire front entry system with a ProVia Signet Cherry fiberglass door and two matching sidelights. The new setup included a 430-style main door and 130-style sidelights, finished Snow Mist white inside and Hazelnut stained woodgrain outside for a warm, custom look. The Eclipse decorative glass with brass caming added privacy and style, while upgraded hardware like the oil-rubbed bronze grip handle and FrameSaver frame delivered better durability and weather protection.

The full turnkey installation, cleanup, and disposal brought the total project cost to around $11,000

Patio Door Replacement

This project involved removing the old back patio door and installing a new custom-sized ProVia Legacy double patio door. The homeowner reviewed two options: a woodgrain-textured steel version and a smooth steel version. Both options featured a 70.5 inch wide by 80.125 inch tall FrameSaver frame, a left-hand inswing with the left door active, colonial contoured internal grids, ComforTech DLA insulated glass, Snow Mist white interior and exterior finishes, brass hardware, and a matching sliding screen.

The textured steel option totaled around $7,000, while the smooth steel version came in at around $6,000, including installation, cleanup, and disposal.

Front Door and Transom Replacement

This project upgraded the home’s entryway with a ProVia Signet Cherry fiberglass front door paired with a matching rectangular transom above it. The door was factory finished Toasted Coconut on the interior and stained American Cherry on the exterior, giving it a warm, custom wood look with none of the maintenance headaches. The setup included ComforTech DC insulated glass in both the door and the transom, colonial contoured internal grids, brass mortise hardware, and a fully cladded FrameSaver frame for long-term durability. Installation, sealing, trimming, cleanup, and disposal were all included.

The total investment for the new front door and transom was around $10,000

Yes, energy efficiency is absolutely worth the added cost for most homeowners. Energy efficient windows and doors help keep your home warmer in winter, cooler in summer, and reduce how hard your HVAC system has to work. That usually means lower energy bills, better comfort with fewer drafts, and long term value if you stay in the home. The biggest payoff is for older homes with drafty or outdated windows and doors.

Energy Savings by Door Type

Upgrading from older, single‑pane or poorly insulated doors to modern energy‑efficient, ENERGY STAR®‑rated doors can lower your home’s heating and cooling costs. New energy‑efficient doors help reduce drafts and heat transfer, which can reduce overall heating and cooling energy use — in some cases by up to about 25% when combined with other efficient upgrades like better insulation and sealing.

ENERGY STAR’s data shows that installing certified windows, doors, and skylights (including doors with insulated frames and Low‑E glass) can shrink energy bills by an average of up to 13% on heating and cooling costs nationwide compared to older, non‑certified products.

While exact savings vary by climate, home size, and existing conditions, many homeowners see annual utility savings from these upgrades, and the upfront cost is often recouped over time through lower energy bills and improved comfort.
